        To monitor the Quality of water in a more comprehensive way, the Angeles City Water District (ACWD) has spent almost 4 million pesos (PhP 4 M) in upgrading its laboratory for water analysis.

        For its Bacteriological analysis: ACWD is conducting Total Coliform test and Fecal coliform test using the Multiple Tube Fermentation Test (MTFT) and Heterotrophic Plate Count (HPC) using the Pour Plate Method. Heterotrophic Plate Count describes a broad group of bacteria that include pathogens, non pathogens and opportunistic microorganisms. It can be used to indicate general biological condition of drinking-water.

        For Physical and Chemical Analysis: ACWD can now analyze 30 parameters including some heavy metals which are found to be toxic in nature. With its newly acquired Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS), ACWD can analyze Lead, Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium and Mercury.

        Provision of safe water supply prevents transmission of waterborne pathogens and reduces the exposure of individuals to chemical and physical hazards that could be ingested through contaminated drinking water. Continuous development of policies and programs are geared toward minimizing the risk of contracting waterborne diseases.
